I was honored by Cedarville University to receive a 2017 alumni award. President White also invited me to speak in chapel where I preached on the “Boaz’s One-Another Mindset” in Ruth 2 (the sermon starts at the 17:45 mark in the video). The challenge is for people of means not to be ashamed of their power, influence or privilege, but to steward it, like Boaz, on behalf of another.
Sunday, April 17th I was blessed to be part of the “Why” series at Faith Baptist Church in Youngsville, NC. The four week series engaged popular objections to the Christian faith with an exegetical/apologetic sermon followed by a panel answering various relevant questions submitted by people at the church. Last week I was honored to be part of a series of sermons and dialogues at Apex Community Church in the greater Dayton (OH) area called Fear vs. Love. The goal of this three-part sermon series and special Wednesday night event was to engage one of the most polarizing issues of our day: race.
I was encouraged by the evening and I pray that Apex will be an example to other churches and Christian organizations to engage in the discussion as well. Click here to listen to my address entitled A Preamble to a Dialogue on Race from Wednesday, September 30, 2015 (I begin at the 9:30 mark).
